Meet the team

Barbara Eksteen

I’ve been in the fitness world for almost 20 years, and my passion is helping people move better and feel good in their bodies — especially when it means getting rid of pain.In my classes, you’ll find a mix of Pilates, Gyrokinesis, and Melt, designed to challenge you without burning you out. I keep things fresh with tons of variety, so no two sessions feel the same. My vibe? Focused and fun — we don’t waste time, but we enjoy the work. After becoming a mom in 2016, I dove into postpartum care and women’s health, earning my PCES certification with Sarah Duvall. I especially love working with people who are curious, ready to try new things, and committed to feeling stronger and more capable. If something doesn’t feel right, I’m here to help. No judgment, just solutions — whether that’s in class or one-on-one.

Motion is lotion

There are no wrong movements – just movements your body isn’t quite ready for yet.Think of your Pilates class as an opportunity to try out different movements. Use it to build mobility, improve rotation, strengthen your hips and feet, and get your body ready for more movements without pain. It might take time, but the effort will definitely pay off.And remember, your fitness journey needs variety. It’s like eating a balanced diet – you wouldn’t just eat one food group, right? Pilates should be just one part of your movement routine. Mix it up with fun activities like dancing, juggling, tai chi, gardening, biking, or just going for a walk. The more you move in different ways, the better!

Embrace your limitations and injuries as opportunities for innovation and creativity.

Embrace the process and enjoy the ride.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need to do a Private session before starting? Before jumping into group classes, we start with a body assessment to get a clear picture of your individual strengths, weaknesses, and any specific needs. This helps me understand things like your flexibility, alignment, and any injuries or conditions you might have. With this info, I can personalize the exercises and make any necessary modifications to suit your body and your goals.Starting with a body assessment just makes your Pilates experience more effective and tailored to you. It’s all about making sure you’re doing what’s right for your body from the get-go!

What can I expect my classes to cost? We’ve now moved to a donation-based model because we want to make Pilates more accessible to everyone. We recommend a donation of R90 for a group class and R450 for a one-on-one session, but the choice is yours based on what feels right for you. Also, if you’re interested in Zoom classes, be sure to ask about special discounts available! Our goal is to make sure everyone can join in and benefit from the sessions, no matter their budget.

"Don't be fooled by the friendly exterior. Barbara is ruthless. If you squeal she will make you do another set. The only upside is that sometimes her handsome hubby makes a guest appearance. You have been warned"
